Sobre o trabalho de mestrado: informação de contexto e estrutura tipo da dissertação

Este texto é necessariamente direto e resumido. O seu objetivo é o de ajudar na construção de uma estrutura própria a cada aluno de mestrado, de forma a refletir o seu trabalho. Deste modo, é pretendido que o presente texto liste os componentes essenciais que uma tabela de conteúdos do relatório de dissertação deve conter e proporcionar um suporte para obter um esforço inicial rápido e adequado para um trabalho deste tipo. Mais ainda, trata-se de uma versão para posterior aprofundamento e para uso exclusivo dos alunos de mestrado orientados ou, quando muito, coorientados por Luís Borges Gouveia. Não pretende ser um modelo geral ou uma tomada de posição definitiva sobre como organizar uma dissertação, mas sim um auxiliar para facilitar o trabalho de orientação e permitir uma percepção mais fácil do que é pretendido. O relatório final do projeto de doutoramento – a tese – é o culminar do trabalho e o documento de memória futura de um esforço significativo realizado em contexto individual com base em estudos que aprofundam o conhecimento existente com contributos claros, bem definidos, que demonstram a capacidade do autor para a realização de investigação científica. Emerging alternatives to leadership and governance in a digital ecosystem

The last decade brings us a quite global, complex and complete digital ecosystem, the so called VUCA world were volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity is a common setting for any organization. Digital data and information, appliances, information artifacts and any sort of products and applications emerge, more connective due to its digital nature. Even considering different contexts, almost any economic sector, social or work setting was affected by a common digital base. Thus, whatever perspective that we can take on, this digital base made some sort of impact both in the way we work, and organize ourselves. It also alters the ways we interact and support human relationships both as individuals and as organizations. It is expected that such a digital ecosystem enhances and transforms hard skills related with information and communication technologies and the same with information based skills. Not so clear, the same happens to soft skills and the need to address new challenges in how we deal with human activity. Open access and social media: challenges and opportunities for information management

The availability of information that Internet brings, in particular, the World Wide Web, produced a huge impact in the way we collect and access information. This also impacts the strategies followed to organize and manage information. It is clear by now, that each individual, by its own and without adequate training is on trouble to manage its information, the information he or she needs and even to secure it. Recent developments provide a new context that wants to protect data from individuals and some sensitive information, putting a new focus not in the data possibilities but on the individual rights, such as the General Regulation for Data Protection (GRPD) implies, with real changes not easy to implement with current information systems and applications. But such issues related with the use of personal data are not restricted to GRPD. Also security issues, and information readiness or the quality and veracity of information are at stake – thus turns reference and information support as an important role for any information service. Additionally, we are in a fast, complex, and information sophisticated world. As so, open access and social media, two the trending phenomena when dealing with information management place a number of challenges but also opportunities for those who are responsible for manage information within organizations. Taking the case of higher education, the presentation discusses how libraries can be the hub where such challenges and opportunities may have a more transformative impact.N/

Digital information is omnipresent in an everyday basis in any kind of activity that both individuals and organizations perform. As a result the needs and services provided by libraries needed to consider such a digital context with a smart move to adapt and evolve in order to provide digital information along with more traditional services. This presentation introduces some of the concepts related with such digital opportunities when considered along with digital libraries, and discusses some innovative uses to organize, present and curate information and knowledge, within a library context
